I really dislike trials going part heard. It is sometimes difficult to be an advocate in a trial and trying to keep a detailed but concise note of the proceedings when you are cross examing a witness. The problem of note taking is ten times worse when you have to rely on your notes for the second part of a part heard trial. You have to read your notes and recall the words of the witness despite not having the opportunity to write a verbatim account of their evidence other than recording a few key statements.
Oh joy, I have a part heard trial to finish today.

Hi Gavin,
We are a group of post grad Accounting students, and part of our program, we have to do an assignment of Business Law that to attend a trail in criminal setting for writing an essay about what we are experiencing during the visit to Court.
We are expected to mention in our essay such as:
1) the process of jury selection
2) the role played by the Judge
and the barristers who represent the various parties
and so on.
We attended a trial this morning, but it is not really an opening one and cant get any information what we want from it.
I am so unfamiliar with all the terms such as trial part heard and so on.
Any tip for me, thanks in advance. By the way, I am from Australia.
I found out that your blog is quite interesting and give me some ideas of how is the life of a Criminal Solicitor.
Good on you.
Thank you!

Mya
